Oghenekaro Etebo who scored four goals for Nigeria in their 5-4 win over Japan at the Rio 2016 Olympics marked his return to competitive football with a goal in Feirense Cup win over Tondela.
Etebo has been struggling to shake off the hamstring injury that brought about a premature end to his participation at the Olympics with Nigeria, but that appears to have been buried for good.
Snubbed by Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr in the list for the players who defeated Zambia 2-1 in Ndola. He fired in his side second goal in the 64th minute as they put 9 man Tondela to the sword.
His goal will serve as a timely reminder to Rohr ahead of Nigeria’s next game against Algeria in November, where he is expected to be in the squad for what will be the second meaningful game for the new Super Eagles coach.
