Nigeria international Odion Ighalo scored his first goal of the season for Watford, but it wasn’t good enough to help the Hornets survive a shock cup exit in the hands of League one side Gillingham.

Ighalo gave Watford the lead in the 58th minute but eight minute from time Mark Bryne levelled for Gillingham, and the upset was completed in the second minute of extra time when Bradley Dack scored a second goal for the third tier English league side.

Watford’s loss to the League one side was one of the shock result of the English League Cup formerly know as the Capital One Cup.

Their attention will now switch to Saturday when they will take on Arsenal, in a Premier League game where they will be looking to get back to winning way after suffering a 1-3 loss to Chelsea last weekend.
