Former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has celebrated the decision of Moses Simon to join newly promoted French Ligue 1 side Paris FC from fellow league side Nantes, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Widely regarded as one of the favourite of the coach during his time with the Super Eagles, Simon ended last season with eight goals and ten assists helping Nantes to once again preserve their top flight status. It also brought about the need for him to leave with a year left on his deal.
Rohr who has been on the forefront of the need for Moses Simon to leave Nantes for a bigger team picked England as his preferred option for the 29 year old in May. “England would be a good challenge. He speaks the language, and many Nigerian players have succeeded there. His pace, technical skills, and eye for goal make him a great fit for the Premier League,” he told Africa Foot.
However he didn’t get a move to the destination, rather joined newly promoted French Ligue 1 side Paris FC. Rohr who many expected to be disappointed in the decision made a u-turn by saying the project at the club is worth giving it a trial.
” Paris FC have a very interesting project. We see what the new owners did at RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig. So many people will tell you they will give PSG a run for who own the city of Paris in the nearest future. They have a good budget and a proper setup”, the coach said.
” Simon can play for any team in the world and I can tell you he will make history with Paris FC. He is very disciplined, level headed, hardworking and also very committed to his family. The people at Nantes and their fans will tell you how much of a good servant he has been for six seasons. I am happy for him”, the coach said.
