Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria has explained why he left newly capped defender Felix Agu out of his squad for Friday’s friendly game against Russia, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Agu made his international bow for Nigeria in the Unity Cup final match win over Jamaica. He played for 83 minutes in the match which Nigeria won 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
The Werder Bremen defender gave a good impression of himself in the minute he was on the pitch, and many expected him to be in the squad for Friday’s game but he was surprisingly not in the list.
Explaining in an interview with London based Nigerian journalist, Chelle while explaining why some players were left out of the squad said Agu’s case is visa related, opening the door for more game time for the 25 year old who played 22 games in the Bundesliga.
In his absence Chelle can call on Bruno Onyemaechi who came in as a substitute to play in the final, after playing the entire duration of the 2-1 win over Ghana in the first game of the tournament.
