Valencia striker Sadiq Umar has been handed the chance to lead the attack of the senior national team of Nigeria at the upcoming Unity Cup in England, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Head coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle has decided to give the lanky forward a chance after not giving him a single minute in his first two games in charge of the team, which was the world cup qualifiers games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe respectively.
Sadiq who will round up his loan at Valencia next week and return to Real Sociedad was among the foreign based players, who were called up to the team, largely made up of players playing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the tournament.
He joined Valencia when they were 19th on the league table and helped them rise up to 12th with five goals in 15 games including a potential goal of the season against Osasuna.
