The Nigeria U20 team are through to the semi final of the ongoing U20 AFCON following a 3-1 penalty shoot out win over defending champions Senegal in the semi final, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
15 year old goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt was the hero for the Nigeria U20 saving two spot kicks after both teams were deadlocked at 0-0 after extra time. Senegal missed a third that ensured the Flying Eagles made it to the world cup aside reaching the semi final.
Nigeria dominated the game but failed to make good use of the opportunity that came their way during the course of the game and even into extra time. Senegal defended resolutely making it difficult for Nigeria to make good use of the opening they had.
They will now wait for the other games in the quarter final between Egypt and Ghana to know who they will be facing in the final four of the tournament which is taking place in Egypt.
