The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle won’t be making any further approach to the duo of Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu and Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabiyio on playing for his team, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Both players are eligible for the senior national team of Nigeria despite featuring for the youth teams of other countries. Atubolu has played for Germany and Tosin represented England at youth level too.
However despite their eligibility and consistent run for their various teams in highly rated leagues, the coach isn’t looking their way after he was informed of past experiences with the duo when approached by former coaches of the team.
Tosin has refused to pledge his nationality to Nigeria since he was first approached in 2018 despite always speaking about his proud Nigerian heritage. Atubolu was approached by former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro but declined the option of a formal meeting. He carries the Nigerian flag on his gloves.
Chelle is however open to having them in his team, if they make contact with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to alert them on their availability to be selected. They will however have to earn it especially if he has gotten his team to the required level.
