The new goalkeeper trainer of the senior national team of Nigeria Padovani Jean-Daniel is open to the idea of bringing in a new option in goal ahead of the team’s upcoming friendly tournament in England, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Padovani trained with three goalkeepers during the world cup qualifiers games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe respectively in first choice Stanley Nwabali, Amas Obasogie and Kayode Bankole.
While there will be no immediate change in Nwabali remaining as first choice, the trainer wants another option who can effectively make the department more competitive and has communicated his desires.
Udinese safe hands Maduka Okoye will no doubt be back in the squad for the invitational tournament in England which will feature three other teams in Trinidad and Tobago, Ghana and Jamaica.
There is the likelihood of another goalkeeper joining the squad with sources saying talks have been held in that regard, but a definite choice is yet to be made.
