The Super Eagles of Nigeria made a one spot rise in the latest rankings of national teams made public by world football governing body FIFA for the month of March, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Nigeria picked up a 2-0 away win against Rwanda in the world cup qualifiers, but suffered a late heartbreak to draw 1-1 against Zimbabwe at their home ground in Uyo, further compounding their chances of making it to the 2026 World Cup.
The draw against Zimbabwe proved costly in the ranking as they dropped from 1482 points to 1481, which placed them as the 44th football playing nation in the world.
While the team moved up the rankings in the global placement they however still remained outside the top five ranked team in Africa with Morocco holding on to top spot (12th in the world), followed by Senegal (19th), Egypt (32nd), Algeria (33rd) and Cote d’Ivoire (41st).
