The head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has decided on the final list of 23 players who will represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the world cup qualifiers games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe respectively, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Chelle made public a 35 man list of players who were handed provisional invitation for both games, and it was made clear by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) during the anniversary that it will be prune down to a list of 23 before the games.
We can exclusively reveal that Ahmed Musa is back in the team and will continue in his role as captain. It will be his first involvement in the squad since the AFCON over a year ago, where he didn’t get to play a single minute at the tournament.
Also returning to the team is Zaidu Sanusi who got injured after the AFCON and missed the entirety of last season for FC Porto. He is now back to full fitness and will be a part of the team for both games.
It is the same situation for Nathan Tella whose only game in a Super Eagles shirt came in the world cup qualifiers second games against Zimbabwe. He is back in the team after almost two years largely due to his form and consistent run of games at Bayer Leverkusen.
Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers has forced his way into the team with his run of 19 goals in all competitions this season. His inclusion per what we exclusively gathered could see Tolu Arokodare of Belgium side Gent drop out of the team.
Another player who has found his way into the team is Valencia forward Sadiq Umar, who has found the back of the net four times in his last seven games in the LaLiga. He will replace Paul Onuachu who until two weeks ago was the overwhelming favorite as backup to to top striker Victor Osimhen.
