The newly appointed coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has given his opinion on the chances of his team winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in December, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Super Eagles went all the way to the final of the last AFCON before losing 1-2 to the host Cote d’Ivoire. They will be aiming to go one step better in the next tournament where they will be going for their fourth crown.
Chelle who led Mali to a quarter final exit at the last AFCON is now at the helm with the Nigerian team, and during the course of the draw for the group stages where they were pitted alongside Tanzania, Uganda and Tunisia in group C, the Malian gave his opinion on the chances of his team winning the tournament.
“Yes I think it’s difficult with 24 teams. Great all of them and great coaches as well. Nigeria as well have a great coach. So all what I know for now for sure is that we will have a great team and we will have fun”, he said.
