Nigeria international defender Bruno Onyemaechi has told Turkish side Trabzonspor that he isn’t interested in joining them in the January transfer window from troubled Portuguese side Boavista, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Boavista are facing a potential ban by UEFA for financial irregularities, which means they are open to selling some of their players in the January transfer window with Bruno among the likely departures.
While they accepted an offer of €2.5m from Trabzonspor, the player rejected the move insisting on moving to a team that is actively competing in Europe and also on the domestic scene for titles.
Bruno told the club his preference is to join Greek side Olympiacos, who are in the Europa League and the current champions of the Europa Conference League. He has already said yes to their proposal.
Coach of Trabzonspor José Luis Mendilibar is a huge admirer of the Nigerian and sees him as a solution to his team’s search for a left back in the January transfer window.
The coach wants Bruno who can also play in other roles aside left back after his success with another player recruited from the Portuguese league in Costinha.
