The agent of highly rated Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode says at no point in time did anyone from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) approached the 20 year old to play for Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Born to parents of Nigerian descent in Italy, Kayode has represented Italy in various youth levels ranging from U18 to U21 is still eligible for Nigeria at senior level.
Reacting to rumours that officials from the NFF approached the defender last year, a member of his management team said the report is inaccurate as they only read about Nigeria’s interest in luring him last year.
He said the former coach of the Super Eagles Jose Peseiro who was said to be keen on Kayode didn’t make any approach to the defender despite reports to the contrary.
On Kayode’s international future he said its firmly with Italy, the country of his birth and his only desire is to step up the ladder and play for the senior national team under current coach Luciano Spalletti who is a huge admirer.
