The disciplinary committee of the Confederation for African Football (CAF) has awarded the Super Eagles of Nigeria three points and three goals for the abandoned AFCON qualifiers game against Libya, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Super Eagles defeated Libya 1-0 in Uyo, but had to abandon the reverse game away after they were left unattended to for over 16 hours at the airport upon arrival without food and water. They also survived a plane crash when their flight was inexplicably diverted to another airport 300km away from the city of the game.

Chairman of the Libyan Football Federation Nasir Al-Swaiei has denounced the CAF’s decision against Libya, describing it as an unjust punishment.

He said the decision was taken against Libya because the Nigerian Football Federation has great influence within the corridors of the CAF.
