Uche Chrisantus have been rewarded for his fine start to life at Spanish LaLiga side Getafe with the award of player of the month, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Signed from 3rd division side Cueta, the 21 year old hasn’t looked out of place in the top division as he has so far played in all of their five games of the season . He scored in his debut game for the club against Atletico Bilbao.
This season he has been deployed more as a top striker as opposed to his main role as an attacking midfielder. So far he has played just twice from the midfield in what has been a poor start for Getafe.
Still searching for their first win of the season and dropping to 18th on the 20 teams league table, Chrisantus who is tipped for a first time call up to the senior national team of Nigeria in the AFCON qualifiers in October has been one of the positives of their season so far.
The award recognizing his contributions to the team is another testament of his undoubted ability, which earned him the move to the Spanish top division from the third division just three years after leaving Nigeria.
