The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has decided to put a halt to the search for a new coach for the senior national team of Nigeria ahead of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers games against Libya, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Eguavoen confirmed after the 0-0 draw against Rwanda that his two games mandate as coach has come to an end, while refusing to be drawn in on how the team will approach the back to back games against Libya in October.
However three hours later , he made a shocking U-Turn on his statement saying he was quoted out of context, and will continue as coach until instructed otherwise by the NFF. He has now been given the mantle for the next two games.
As part of the preparations for the games , he has drawn a preliminary list of 35 plajers which will be reduced to 25, one week before both games which could see Nigeria seal a spot at the next AFCON.
