Fresh from narrowly missing out on promotion back to English Premier League Leeds United have started the process of improving their squad for the challenge of next season, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Unfortunate to have missed out on promotion after failing to make it through the playoffs, their aim this season is to gain automatic promotion and they are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to achieve their aim.
One cap Nigeria international defender Jordan Torunarigha tops the list of their priority for a left footed center back and talks are well advanced over the deal.
Some reports say all terms have been agree for the move and all that is left is a routine medical before the official announcement of his signing on a four year deal. The player also hinted at the move in an interview yesterday.
“I feel good, I’m in top shape and ready for the next step,” stresses Torunarigha, who initially moved from Hertha to Gent on loan in January 2022 and was signed permanently the following summer for 3 million euros.
The former Germany youth international played 104 games for the club, scoring four goals and providing five assists. He also won the Belgian Cup in 2022.
“I still have a year left on my contract and I’m not in a hurry. We’ll see what happens. I’m aiming for the highest possible sporting goals. That will definitely play a role in my decision,” says the defender who is keen on adding to his sole cap for the Super Eagles.
