The search for a new coach for the senior national team of Nigeria will come to an end soon according to a chieftain of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
In a public statement, the NFF revealed that they are on the lookout for a coach who will head the technical crew of the team after the disappointment of the last world cup qualifiers games, where they drew 1-1 with South Africa before losing 1-2 to Benin Republic.
The results saw them drop to 5th on the log, four points behind leaders Rwanda making qualification for the world cup far from assured. Finidi George who was in charge of the team in the matches mentioned above tendered his resignation from the post.
A three man shortlist of Marc Brys, Toni Conceição and Didier Six was drawn up by the NFF and a board member revealed a Belgian who has experience on the African continent will likely get the nod, but he refused to mention his name but did say it’s not Brys. He said talks are progressing nicely.
” No. Brys will remain with Cameroon but we (NFF) are likely looking at an Belgian coach who has experience on the African continent. He recently left his role with an African team but I am sorry I can’t give you his name now”, he rounded up saying.
