The Super Eagles of Nigeria are now the 70th football playing nation in the world according to the latest FIFA Rankings released by world football governing body FIFA.

Nigeria 61st in June when the last monthly rankings were released drop nine places to 70th in this month ranking and also in Africa they are now 17th surprisingly behind the likes of Uganda and Benin Republic.

Presently the Super Eagles are the lowest ranked team among the favourites in their group for the World Cup 2018 qualifiers with group rivals Algeria and Cameroon currently ranked higher than the Eagles who are only better off than Zambia in group B in terms of ranking.

Algeria are still the top ranked team in Africa as they are placed 32nd in the World just like last month while Cameroon moved up five places in the global rankings to 53rd in the world.

Still without a coach, the senior Nigeria national team are currently experiencing one of their worst run of form as they have twice missed out on qualification for the Africa cup of nations, the first time they are experiencing back to back disappointment of missing out on the cup of nations.
