The Nigeria U20 team continued their build up to the Africa U20 Cup of Nations with another big win in a test game to keep their 100 percent record intact ahead of the tournament next month.
Up against Deluxe Football Club, the Ladan Bosso tutored lad struggled to break down their opponent in the first half but blew them away in a blistering second half performance. They put six goals pass the hapless Deluxe Football Club to win the game 6-0.
Ibrahim Yahaya drew the first blood in the 47th minute. Three minutes later, forward Haliru Seriki was classy in doubling the lead.
Remo Stars young attacker Adams Olamilekan registered his own share of the goals three minutes for the hour mark.
Seriki added the fourth and Emmanuel Ochegbu contributed a brace to round up the game.
Shortly after the game Bosso confirmed that Yahaya will wear the captain armband at the tournament in Egypt with substantial captain Razak Adegbite missing through injury.
” Yahaya is the new captain of the team. He has shown enough leadership qualities and it was a unanimous decision to hand him the arm band”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
The TotalEnergies U20 Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 19 February to 11 March 2023. The host cities are Cairo (Group A), Ismailia (Group B) and Alexandria (Group C).
The 12-nation tournament will begin with a mouth-watering opening game between hosts Egypt and Mozambique on Sunday 19 February 2023 at 16h00 local time.
