The League Management Company (LMC) of Nigeria are set to dump the idea of title sponsor for the Nigeria league to adopt a new style tagged supporters of the league.
This much was made known by chairman of the LMC, Mallam Shehu Dikko in Kaduna during an interview on Liberty Radio sports programme “Sports Pack” monitored on Saturday by Owngoalnigeria.com.
“We are in talks with some companies who are set to support our idea of transforming the Nigeria premier league about a new package for the league hence we shelving the idea of title sponsors” He said.
“The LMC will now have it sponsors come under a new tag titled supporters of the league and by that we can have like four to five corporate bodies playing their role not just exclusively selling to one”.

Telecommunication giants Globalcom are presently the title sponsors of the Nigeria Premier League but this new arrangement still has to be vetoed by them as they have the first option of refusal even though their contract with the LMC is over.
Hence the LMC plans to sell the idea to them if they oppose then a new fee for them to continue as title sponsors will be presented to them which if they can’t meet up with the provision then the league body will go ahead with their plan to eliminate title sponsors.
