Newly promoted Italian Serie A side Cremonese will likely beef up their attack with two players of the senior national team of Nigeria per several reports.
Newly promoted Cremonese are strengthening their squad ahead of the start of the season, where their aim is to at least maintain their status in the Italian top flight and bolstering their attack is a priority.
To that extent talks have been held with the senior national team of Nigeria duo of Cyriel Dessers and David Okereke players of Genk and Club Brugge of Belgium respectively.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Dessers and his agent were in Italy to hold talks with the Serie A over the move. He is keen on leaving the Belgium side after a successful loan spell with Feyenoord in the Netherlands, where he scored ten goals to finish as top scorer in the Europa Conference League.
Although there is a slim chance of the 27 year old staying at Gent. He made the most of his remaining time there with a goal in their first game of the season over the weekend in a 2-3 loss to Brugge. Okereke on the other hand was an unused substitute.
Last season he had a productive spell at relegated Italian Serie A side Venezia and it appears he did enough to convince Cremonese that he will be a positive addition to their attack line. He scored seven goals in 33 games last season.
Both players are said to be close to signing for the club. A good performance in the league will no doubt help their national team careers particularly Okereke who hasn’t been involved since 2019, when he was drafted from the U23 to the main team for a friendly game.
