OFFICIAL:SUNDAY STEPHEN MOVES TO MLS

One cap Super Eagles midfielder and former Spanish youth international Sunday Stephen Obayan has left Alanyaspor of Turkey for Major League Soccer (MLS).

MLS side Real Salt Lake announced his signing on Thursday pending visa approval and receipt of his international transfer certificate (ITC) but in respect to the league terms and policy,terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

An excited Obayan told the club website he is firmly geared up for the new challenge and hope to win title with his new side.

“Am very happy and excited to join Real Salt Lake,a club with a winning history in MLS,I look forward to a successful season,challenging myself to meeting my new teammates and the fans in Salt Lake” He said.

27 year old Obayan has played for 8 different teams in his 11 year stay in Europe as a professional football starting with Polideportivo Ejido in the Spanish second division in 2005 where he spent two years before moving to Valencia.

At Valencia he spent three out of his four year deal on loan with Osasuna,Real Betis and CD Numancia where he eventually moved to permanently in 2011.

He spent two years at Numancia playing 76 matches before moving to Israel where he played for Bnei Sakhnin for a year then left for CSKA Sofia of Bulgaria prior to playing for Alanyaspor in Turkey.

Born in Lagos Nigeria he played internationally for Spain at U-19,U-20 and U-21 level but got his first senior cap for Nigeria in 2010 .
