Ahead of tomorrow’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers game against Nigeria, Cape Verde forward Ryan Mendez says he is hopeful of his team getting a positive result against a depleted Nigerian side.
The Super of Nigeria preparations for the Cape Verde tie has been seriously depleted with players forced out of the game for several reasons.
With nine of the players who took part in Friday’s 2-0 win over Liberia ruled out of tomorrow’s game for various reasons which included a failed coronavirus test (Oghenekaro Etebo) and also family issues (Ola Aina), Mendez fancies the chances of his team.
Speaking of the chances of his team, Mendez told reporters in Cape Verde that although Nigeria is blessed with lot of talented players, It will be difficult for them to assert themselves as they are without key players.
“ We know Nigeria have quality players like Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho but they won’t be playing and several others. It’s a new team and we are confident it will work in our favour”, he said.
