Coach of Liberia Peter Butler says the defeat his team suffered against the senior national team of Nigeria was down to the quality of players in the Nigerian team.
The coach watched on as two goals from Kelechi Iheanacho handed Nigeria a 2-0 win over his wards in the first game of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers played in Lagos two days ago. Iheanacho hit a short well worked corner kick with force to open scoring before using his quick thinking to add another before half time.
Speaking on the result, the coach lamented the fact that the playing surface wasn’t of the quality for his team to show their worth but pin their loss down to the individual talents in the Nigerian team.
“ When you play a team of the quality of the Nigerian team you’re careful not to make any errors else they will punish you. That was the case in our defeat. They used the individual brilliance of Iheanacho. We were better technically and tactically”, he explained.
