Deputy Vice President of Europe Football governing body UEFA has added his voice to the discussion on the sending off of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen In Napoli’s 2-0 win over Venezia in the Serie A.
The Nigerian was shown a straight red card in the 23rd minute for an alleged punch on Venezia defender Daan Heymans during a tussle for space in the box with Napoli about to take a corner kick.
As expected the red card incident has generated reaction with many faulting the Nigerian for his role in the incident however some insist the sending off was harsh.
Reacting to the issue, Zbigniew Boniek said in an interview with an Italian radio station that the Nigerian need to behave properly in the middle of provocation and hoped that he has learnt a lesson from the red card.
“The expulsion of Osimhen? They are hundreds of a second, reactions, counter reactions that can happen. But we must make the players understand that such behaviors must be avoided. He is always very heated, he is quick and fast. But he must have learnt from this episode”, he told Radio Kiss Kiss.
