Germany have succeeded in convincing young goalkeeper Noah Atubolu to shun a chance for an international career with Nigeria and continue his progress with their youth team.
The 18 year old is the first choice of Freiburg II where his impressive showing have already earned him a chance to train with the senior team severally.
Owngoalnigeria.com learnt that former coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun visited Atubolu in Germany where he told him of his plans to have him in his squad for the U20 World Cup.
Atubolu even spoke with coach of the senior national team of Nigeria but after making seven appearances for the U17 team of Germany he rejected the chance to team up with the Nigerian team.
Furthermore Nigeria’s quest to have him at the U20 World Cup came at a time when Maduka Okoye just switched allegiance to Nigeria hence Germany put him under sustained pressure and he decided to continue with their U17 team Instead of switching to Nigeria.
