Rangers of Scotland midfielder Joe Aribo has attributed his not too impressive display for Nigeria in the AFCON 2021 qualifiers to the nature of the pitches in Africa.

The 24 years old started his international career with Nigeria by scoring in his first two games against Ukraine and Brazil respectively but since then the goals have dried up.

Aribo has so far failed to score in any of the four games the team has played in the AFCON qualifiers with his performance in the back to back games against Sierra Leone his worst so far in a Nigerian shirt.

Explaining the reason behind his poor showing Aribo told close friends and associates that the quality of the pitches makes it hard for him to properly assert himself in games.

The first two games where he excelled for Nigeria were played abroad with better pitches hence his impressive performance. The weather in Africa is also another factor.

Prior to the game against Sierra Leone in Benin, Aribo complained about the harsh weather to his teammates. Kevin Akpoguma also shares same sentiments.
