On loan Liverpool forward Taiwo Awoniyi will be cut loose by Liverpool despite having three more years on his deal at the club after failing to make an impact in Germany for Mainz 05.
The lanky forward joined the team as an 18 year old but at the age of 22, work permit and other issues have denied him the chance to make a single appearance for Liverpool and his performances on loan has been mixed.
He excelled at NEC Nijmegen and at Mouscron where he had two different spells but he has struggled at FSV Frankfurt, Gent and now Mainz 05. A form that has led to a decision on his future.
Awoniyi is among the players the made available for transfer by the club this summer and already his representatives have been informed of the situation in order for them to begin the search for a permanent home for the forward who made just six appearances for Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga.
He won’t be short of suitors as teams in Belgium, France and Turkey have all shown interest in having him on their payroll on a permanent deal and at a cut price owing to the Covid-19 crisis that has affected the finances of several teams.
