Union Berlin forward Suleiman Abdullahi says injuries denied him the chance to be called up to the senior national team of Nigeria as it stopped him from excelling in his debut season in the Bundesliga.
Kaduna born forward signed a two year deal with the newly promoted Bundesliga side from Eintracht Braunschweig after a successful loan spell with the team but injuries limited him to just four Bundesliga games so far.
Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com, the power playing 2r year old said he was well in the sight of the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr before the start of the season but he didn’t get to play much games due to fitness issues.
” I am still 23 years old and time is still very much on my side. I have not been fortunate with injuries this season and it cost me a spot in the senior national team of Nigeria. The coach was eager to see me play in the top division after my performance in our promotion bid however injuries cost me the chance to impress”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” My aim is to get back to my best physically, play games, score goals and let the rest take care of itself. Like I said I still have time on my side and my injury worry is now behind me totally “, he remarked.
