2013 AFCON goal king, Emmanuel Emenike has revealed that Late Stephen Keshi rejected a cash gift he offered him after signing an endorsement deal with a Brewery company just after Nigeria defeated Ethiopia to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Emenike stressed that he has never paid for a national team spot and even when he gave a gift just for the sake of it, the Big Boss rejected it.
“For me I have never paid anyone in the national team. Even when I did endorsement with Guiness, I tried giving Keshi something out of goodwill but he said no, I don’t need anything from you”.
Speaking on the bribe allegation spree, the former Fenerbache striker said “I won’t say anything about Keshi (May his soul rest in peace) but I don’t know where all these things are coming from but remember also, they bring players to Keshi and force it on him.
“Our football needs to change a lot of things are going on”, he added. Emenike was one of Nigeria’s leading marksmen during his time and was a constant goal threat.
He made 37 appearances for the Super Eagles, netting 9 times and assisted 6 goals between 2011 and 2015 when he lined up for the national team.
