The Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) says it has no input or whatsoever in the decision to call Viv Solomon-Otabor as replacement for injured Samuel Kalu ahead of the Super Eagles October 13th friendly game against Brazil.
Solomon-Otabor who plays for Bulgaria side CSKA Sofia was handed a late call up to the squad and it has generated controversy considering the 23 year old hasn’t had the best of time in Bulgaria where he has fail to score in the first seven games of the season.
The fact that he was called up ahead of other Nigerian players who are doing well in top leagues added more fuel to the controversy surrounding his call up with some people suggesting that the NFF has a hand in the decision.
However a top member of the board in an exclusive chat with Owngoalnigeria.com said the decision was taken entirely by the coach as there is a clause in his contract that prevents the NFF from interfering with the call up of players.
” No one from the NFF can impose player on Rohr, it’s in his new deal that no one can do that not even the president of the Federation. Like many Nigerians we are shock over the decision to call Solomon-Otabor. Most of us saw the campaign that was done for him in the media and it makes his call up more shameful “, he concluded.
