However Akpeyi made the absent duo proud by standing between a goal and Lamontville Golden Arrows for the entirety of the game.

The out of favour Super Eagles goalkepper has now kept two clean sheet in the 9 games he has played in the Premier South Africa league after doing same on the 21st of December against Maritzburg United.

Since moving to South Africa he has lost his place in the national team of Nigeria with new manager Sunday Oliseh preferring the duo of Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Alampasu as back up to first choice Carl Ikeme.

29 year old Akpeyi was for a year deputy to former Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama who left the team in acrimonious circumstances after being stripped off his role as captain following a row with Sunday Oliseh.
