Owngoalnigeria.com rates the players who played and lost 0-2 for the Nigeria U20 team against USA at the ongoing 2019 U20 World Youth Championship.
Olawale Oremade : Wasn’t at fault for any of the goal conceded by Nigeria but should have done better in organizing his defence…..4/10
Mohammed Rabiu Zulkifilu – The best player on the pitch for Nigeria. Attacked with conviction and also defended very well against Tim Weah. Created more chances than any other Nigerian player and had two efforts on target including a spectacular overhead kick despite his position as the right back of his team….. 6/10
Ikouwem Utin – Struggled to defend against the pacy Dest hence couldn’t join the attack like he did in the first game. Lost the ball severally and couldn’t keep track of the runners he was up against…..4/10
Valentine Ozornwafor – Didn’t look too comfortable defending against the pacy Americans. At fault for the first goal conceded by Nigeria as he was guilty of ball watching just like his central defence pair Aliu Salawudeen…..5/10
Aliu Salawudeen – At fault for the second goal but should share the blame with Jamil Mohammed who didn’t track the run from deep. Looked lost and bereft of ideas in making tackles and winning balls….. 3/10
Jamil Mohammed – By far the problem of the team. Failed to break up play leaving the defence exposed, how he lasted the entire duration of the game is a mystery…..3/10
Kingsley Michael – Tried to motivate his teammates with instructions on the pitch and also with his play. Didn’t get enough time on the ball and was surprisingly substituted when he was beginning to dictate play…..4/10
Tom Dele-Bashiru – The reason behind his substitution is reportedly due to an injury. He however didn’t do much in the time he was on the pitch…..2/10
Maxwell Effiom – Rattled the bar with a well Hit effort in the first half but went missing afterwards. Did nothing to help the team in defence even when they were under pressure…..4/10
Jerome Akor – He started on the strength of his performance as a substitute in the first game but he didn’t justify the decision to start him. Looked way off pace…..3/10
Henry Offia – Lasted the entire duration of the game but didn’t touch the ball more than five times in the second half. He went missing when his team needed him most…..3/10
Substitutes:
Aniekeme Okon – Played as a central midfielder and impressed mightily. Kept the ball well and drove the team forward in search of a goal but didn’t use the ball well in the opponent’s half …..5.5/10
Tijjani Muhammed – For the second game running he offered nothing significant to the team…..2/10
Success Makanjuola – Lively when he came on but to no effect…..3/10
