Super Eagles of Nigeria rave of the moment Samuel Kalu is yet to kick a ball in anger for his French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux, no thanks to injury and poor state of mind when his mother was kidnapped by ransom seeking hoodlums.
His mother has been released by her abductors but Kalu is yet to get a game since that incident and latest reports indicate that he is battling to recover from an unspecified injury picked up in training.
The injury was what ruled him out the Nigerian team for their recent games and he could yet miss the Africa Cup of Nations particularly if the injury requires surgery.
For now he is recuperating without going under the knife but if he suffers any relapse on his return then the club will be forced to make him undergo surgery which will possibly rule him out of the Africa Cup of Nations starting in June.

Since making his debut for Nigeria after the World Cup in Russia, 21 year old Kalu has established himself as a regular in the side and he will no doubt push himself to be able to make the squad for the Cup of Nations.
