Victor Osimhen has earned praises from Reda Attia, coach of the U23 team of Libya, same team he sent packing from the Africa U23 Cup of Nations Qualifiers with a hattrick for Nigeria in the 4-0 win over the Libyans yesterday.
The result rendered the 2-0 win over Libya in the first leg inconsequential as Nigeria progressed to the next round on a 4-2 aggregate win where they will take on the winner of the game between Kenya and Sudan.
Osimhen didn’t play in the first leg which Libya won as he was with the Super Eagles preparing for the dead rubber AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie against Seychelles, a game which he ended up not making the matchday squad.
He dropped to the U23s and make his presence count with a hattrick and an assist for the coach Imama Amapakabo led team, a feat which the coach of the team of Libya Attia said decided the game in the favour of Nigeria.
” He (Osimhen) had too much space to play. We didn’t deal with his presence in our box properly which decided the game in the favour of Nigeria. Nigeria deserve to win but I am proud of my team and their performance “, Attia told Owngoalnigeria.com after the game.
