Victor Osimhen who scored the first three goals for Nigeria U23 in their 4-0 win over Libya in the U23 Cup of Nations Qualifiers has revealed the secret behind his feat in the game, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Osimhen completed his hattrick with around ten minutes left to play before setting up David Okereke with an audacious backhell for the Spezia forward to tap home the fourth goal for Nigeria.
Speaking after the game, Osimhen who is on loan from Wolfsburg to Belgium side Charleroi where he has 12 league goals this season praised the impact of his teammates in helping him achieve the feat.
” It’s the entire team that deserve praise for my performance. My hattrick wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my teammates and also the coach. All he asked us to do worked well during the game “, Osimhen said at the post match conference.
On the secret of the three goals he scored, Osimhen pointed to his fine run of form for his Belgium side Charleroi as the catalyst which propelled him to the hattrick.
” My confidence in front of goal with my team in Belgium placed me in the right frame of mind because when you are on a good scoring run, you just have that feeling that you can score in every game”.
