On loan Wolfsburg striker Victor Osimhen proved his mettle once again as a clinical striker with a hattrick for Nigeria U23 to help them to a 4-0 win over Libya and also passage to the next round of qualifiers on a 4-2 aggregate score.
Osimhen scored the opening goal for Nigeria three minutes after the half hour mark and almost doubled the tally for the Nigerian team with a shot which came off the woodwork minutes before the half time break.
After the half hour mark, there was no stopping the on loan Wolfsburg forward who has 12 goals this season for Charleroi as he piunced on a defensive mix up to stab home his and Nigeria’s second goal of the game.
With less than ten minutes to play, the 20 year old completed his hattrick with a smart finish from a terrific pass from Kelechi Nwakali to put the game beyond the reach of the visiting Libya team.
Substitute David Okereke drove the final nail into the coffin of the Libyans with a toe poke finish from a back heel by Osimhen to complete the route and seal passage on a 4-2 aggregate win.
