The disciplinary committee of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) have given their recommendations on the fate of the coach of the Super Eagles Salisu Yusuf who was caught on tape receiving money from undercover journalist posing as agents.
The video which was aired on the BBC was done by respected Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyas Anas in September 2017, when Yusuf was preparing the Nigerian team for the WAFU Championship, where they finished as runners-up after losing 0-4 to Morocco in the final.
Although coach Yusuf pleaded his innocence insisting that the money he collected was in the form of a gift and didn’t influence his decision in terms of players selection, the NFF Disciplinary Committee has however asked the board to sack him.
A check at the secretariat of the football house in Abuja revealed that Yusuf will be relieved off his role as coach of the Super Eagles and U23s, but it won’t be immediate as he would be given the chance to defend himself by the board of the NFF.
