Per information sourced by the editorial team of Owngoalnigeria.com, French Ligue 1 side Monaco have pulled out of the race to sign Nigerian forward Samuel Kalu from Belgium side Gent.

Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that the 20 year old was priced out of a move to the French side by the asking price of Gent after their first bid was turned down few months ago.

Monaco have sinced moved on from plans to sign him by snapping up other players similar to the former Trencin forward who ended last season with ten assists and seven goals last season in Belgium.

German Bundesliga side Bayern Leverkusen are now the clear favourite to land him but their move for him will depend on the possible sale of their forward Leon Bailey who has been linked with a move away from the club.

A fee in the region of €15m should be enough to tempt Gent into selling the forward although they are wary of selling him and his fellow Nigerian forward Moses Simon in same transfer window.
