Bryan Idowu Works On Crosses And Five Things We Noticed During Super Eagles Training
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The training session of the Super Eagles watched by Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent saw some players work on specific areas of their game as the World Cup 2018 in Russia draws near.

During the session, Amkar Perm of Russia defender Bryan Idowu was keen on sorting out his crosses ‎after failing to deliver with precision as a left wing back in the Super Eagles friendly games against England and Czech Republic respectively.

Here are five other things we noticed.

1. Uzoho Is Undisputed First Choice

Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho has cemented his spot as the first choice goalkeeper of the team as most of the drills with the defenders were done with him in goal.

2. Ndidi Will Captain Eagles In The Future

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has ‎emerged as one of the leaders of the team, thanks to his commanding display on and off the pitch. His teammates are always listening to him and his abilities to organise by barking out instructions is a pointer that he will be a captain of this team in the future.

3. Awaziem Marks Better Than The Rest Defenders

FC Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem will easily pass as the best in terms of robbing opponents using tackles. The defender who spent last season on loan to Nantes of France has the highest tackle success rate ‎among all defenders who took part in the session.

4. Ebuehi Has Locked Down The Right Back Spot

Aside his abilities to join the attack and whip in telling crosses, newly signed on Benfica defender Tyronne Ebuehi is also very good defensively brushing aside doubts about his abilities in physical duels. For now he has displaced Shehu Abdullahi as the first choice right full back of the team.

5. Kelechi Iheanacho Prime To Be Eagles Joker

The fact that he is not starting games shouldn’t be viewed as a sign of loss of form as the current set up of the team tactically is why other players are preferred ahead of him. Iheanacho is still the most lethal forward in camp and he demonstrated it with three well taken goals during yesterday’s session.
