The much talked about friendly game between Nigeria and England ended with England winning the friendly contest which took place at Wembley 2-1.

England went ahead with Gary Cahill heading home a corner kick from Kieran Trippier leaving goalkeeper Francis Uzoho with no chance especially as Cahill was left unmarked in the Nigerian box.

Uzoho made three good saves to stop England from doubling their advantage but was partly at fault when England finally extended their lead as he failed to deal with a low shot from Harry Kane.

The half ended with England well on top but Nigeria emerged a changed team in the second half as coach Gernot Rohr switched tactics which led to some substitutions before the start of the second half.

Alex Iwobi moved into a central role in Nigeria’s 3-5-2 formation and immediately got Nigeria back into the game when he finished off a move he started by tapping home the rebound from an effort by Odion Ighalo.

Although the Super Eagles dominated the second half exchanges England hang on to claim a morale boosting 2-1 win ahead of their campaign at the World Cup 2018 in Russia.
