28 year old Nigerian defender Akeem Latifu is currently training with Norwegian side Sogndal in his bid to earn a deal following his release by Hungarian side Honved.

Latifu played in their 1-4 loss to Lillestroem in yesterday’s friendly game, and he is expected to feature in few more games before a decision on his potential signing will be made by the technical crew.

The former Nigeria junior international and one time cap senior international has experience of playing in Norway. He played there from 2011 to 2016.

He turned out for Stromsgodset, IL Hodd and Aalesund during his five year stay in Norway before he move to Ukraine where he joined Stal Dnipro. He spent a season with the Ukrainian side before terminating his deal following the failure of the club to meet some provisions in his deal.

A high profile move to Turkish side Alanyaspor on a free transfer lasted just six months, as he was released by the Turkish side and he joined Zira of Azerbaijan, where finished the season.

Last season he made 17 appearances for the Hungarian side Honved, but his contract wasn’t renewed, hence his decision to leave and try his luck with Sogndal‎, who are based in Norway, where he started his professional career outside Nigeria.
