Sunday Abalo is heading out on another loan spell after his parent club Rio Ave agreed a deal for him to join second division side SC Covilha for the rest of the season.

It will be the third loan spell the 22 year old will be experiencing since his debut for Rio Ave in the 2014/2015 season, where he made seven appearances.

The season after his debut he was loaned out to second division side Leixoes, but despite making 17 appearances for the team in the league, he was still not deem good enough for the main team of Rio Ave.

A second spell on loan to Leixoes saw him made same amount of appearance like in his first spell, a form which this team around earned him a recall to the Rio Ave squad for pre season.

At Rio Ave he has failed to force his way into the first team, but has however been ever present for the B team from where he will now head out on loan to Covilha.

At Covilha he will team up with Onyeka Lucky Osemene who is back at the club after an unhappy time in Albania, and they will be hoping to boost the chances of the club gaining promotion to the top flight at the end of the season.

Covilha who are placed 6th in the Portuguese second division also have another Nigerian in their ranks in ‎Sodiq Olamilekan Fatai, who has so far scored five goals from 21 games.
