Burnley Target Moses Simon Gives Reasons Why He Won’t Be Leaving Gent In January

Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Moses Simon has ruled out leaving Belgium side Gent in January, following rumours of interest in his services from English Premier League side Burnley.

During the summer transfer window English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion slapped in a bid for him, but their bid failed to meet Gent’s asking price of £20m.

Gent are reportedly set to lower their asking price as his contract is slowly winding down, but Simon who has long voiced out his desires to play in the English Premier League is asking suitors to wait until after the World Cup.

Burnley have reportedly made the signing of the Nigerian a priority in January, but Simon who still has 18 months to go on his contract with Gent isn’t keen on a move away in January.

” I am aware of interest from some teams around Europe for my services, but I personally don’t think leaving Gent in January is a wise thing, particularly as we are in a World Cup year”, Simon told Owngoalnigeria.com in an exclusive chat.

” The target for me is to keep on improving at Gent, where I’m getting games than move to a team in January and put my chances of going to the World Cup with Nigeria in jeopardy.

” I have some few months to go on my contract with Gent, and that is my focus for now. I was keen on leaving in the summer but not now. I’m 100 percent focused on Gent”, he concluded.

22 year old Simon has been at Gent since January 2015, when he joined the team from Slovakian side Trencin for a fee in the region of €800,000.

He has scored 20 goals in the seasons he has played for the team in the Belgium league. A form which has earned him a spot in the senior national team of Nigeria, and he is widely tipped to make the team to the World Cup.
