The calls for coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr to give Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder John Ogu game time with the Super Eagles came to pass in their final World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Algeria.
Ogu seized the moment to prove his worth to the team with a spectacular 25 yard drive which gave Nigeria the lead in the 1-1 draw, and after the game Rohr singled him out as his man of the match.
He followed it up with another superb showing against Argentina in the 4-2 friendly win in Russia, a game where he was among five players who lasted the entire duration of the game for Nigeria.
Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com, the 29 year old said his early education as a striker has helped his abilities in front of goal despite playing as a deep lying midfielder now.
