Hapoel Be’er Sheva forward Anthony Nwakaeme has been handed the role of top striker ahead of Kelechi Iheanacho by coach Gernot Rohr in tonight game against Algeria.
Iheanacho has been widely tipped to lead the line for the Eagles with Nwakaeme and Alex Iwobi playing alongside him, but Rohr has opt for Nwakaeme as point man in the three man atttack.
Not entirely new to leading the line, the 27 year old who is comfortable playing from the wings played same role in some games last season in Israel, with 14 goals to his name.
The feat earned him the best player in Israel award, and this season he has already found the back of the net four times, more impressive is his tally of four goals from his last three games.
Iwobi will complement him from the left while Iheanacho will operate from the right according to the formation released by Rohr for the dead rubber World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie in Constantine.
