The chances of fast rising Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho ‎retaining his spot as first choice goalkeeper of Spanish La-Liga side Deportivo La Coruna won’t be affected following the sacking of coach Pepe Mel.

Mel gave Uzoho is first team bow at the club, but he was sacked after their last league game which they lost 1-2 to Girona, and his sacking has lead to talks about Uzoho losing his first choice spot.

The club appointed coach of Deportivo B Cristobal Parralo ‎to be in temporary charge until the end of the season, and his appointment will no doubt help Uzoho cement his spot as first choice.

Parralo was the coach who signed Uzoho to the club, and recommended him to the first team after just two months with the B team, where he displaced the first choice goalkeeper.

A member of the Nigeria U17 team of 2013, Uzoho will no doubt relish the prospect of working with Parralo who once described him as one of the best hands he has worked with at junior level.

18 year old Uzoho will however have a first feel of his spot in the manager’s plan when they take on Las Palmas in back to back game in the Copa Del Rey on Thursday and in the La-Liga on Monday.
