The Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a comprehensive 4-0 win over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon at the Nest of Champions Stadium in Uyo to move within touching distance of qualifying for the World Cup 2018 in Russia.

Owngoalnigeria.com Osas Mahawi who was at the stadium rates the players on parade for Nigeria in yesterday’s resounding victory against the reigning African champions.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa – Had little to do but was decisive when he had to, particularly his reading of crosses into the box. His confidence level was also very high…..7.5/10

Shehu Abdullahi – Put in a very industrious shift at right back, solid in tackles, comfortable with the ball at his feet and also joined the attack when he had to, covered lot of grounds especially when Cameroon try to launch a counter attack….. 8/10

Elderson Echiejile – Viewed as the weak link in the Nigerian team many but the Sivasspor left full back had a steady game but struggled a bit against star man Christian Bassogog in the second half….. 7/10

William Troost-Ekong – His ball distribution from the back needs work as he gave away possession when he tried to launch attack from the back. However he had a solid game and kept FC Porto ace Vincent Aboubakar silent….8/10

Leon Balogun – A sure contender for Man of the Match, didn’t lose a single tackle, also completed all his passes from the back. His confidence robbed off on the entire defence…..8.5/10

Ogenyi Onazi – One of his best games in the Super Eagles shirt, timed his run behind to perfection before setting up Kelechi Iheanacho for Nigeria’s fourth goal. Very disciplined in his task of protecting the back four….8/10

Wilfred Ndidi – Popped up almost everywhere he was needed during the game. Gave captain John Obi Mikel the license to push upfront. His display brought back memories of when Sunday Oliseh ‎bossed the midfield for Nigeria….. 8/10

John Obi Mikel – A goal and an assist to his name clearly proved how badly he was missed by the Eagles when they crashed 0-2 to South Africa in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers ‎. His ball holding ability ranks among the best in the world….. 9/10

Moses Simon – Teed up Victor Moses for Nigeria’s third goal of the night, but even prior to that he was by far one of the liveliest players for Nigeria on the pitch. Always willing to take on his man….. 8.5/10

Victor Moses – Ran the show like a boss. Deadly on the ball, whipped in dangerous set pieces and also scored a grounder to cap up a memorable outing…..8.5/10

Odion Ighalo – His performance clearly proved right the decision of coach Gernot Rohr to start him ahead of Kelechi Iheanacho. Took his goal nicely and was a handful for the Cameroonians before going off injured….. 8/10

Substitutes :

Kelechi Iheanacho – What has never been in doubt is his ability to score goals and he once again confirmed it with a headed goal for Nigeria’s fourth. A modern day fox in the box striker who ran the channels brilliantly upon his introduction….. 7/10

Mikel Agu – Replaced the captain Mikel and slotted effortlessly into the midfield. His introduction helped Nigeria regained the upper hand in terms of possession. Not scared of going into tackles as well….. 6.5/10

Ahmed Musa – Came into the game and added pace to the attack of the Super Eagles, but saw less of the ball hence couldn’t wreck havoc. The former captain is lucky to still be in the team….. 5.5/10
