‎Arsenal forward Chuba Akpom stole the show for an Arsenal XI side in their traditional pre season tie against Boreham Wood played at Meadow Park.

The game was also used as part of the opening ceremony of the stadium‎ with manager of Arsenal Arsene Wenger cutting the ribbon to officially open the Desso Pitch owned by Barnet.

Wenger took his seat in the stands as his team strolled past Boreham Wood 4-0 with Chuba Akpom catching the eye with an impressive display capped with a goal and an assist.

Akpom was lively all through and he put the gunners ahead from the spot in the 12th minute, before his excellent through ball found Steve Mavididi in the area, who finished well to put Arsenal two goals up.

Axed from Arsenal pre season tour squad, Akpom set up Jeff Reine-Adelaide but the forward shot wide from a promising position, before Jon Toral put Arsenal 3-0 up going into the half time break.

The forward who is on the radar of the senior national team coach of Nigeria Gernot Rohr rattled the crossbar later on with a ferocious effort shortly after Mavididi scored his second of the game to earn Arsenal a 4-0 win.

Overall he was by far the man of the match even though Mavididi scored twice in the encounter which saw Arsenal give game time to first team players who were left out of the training tour.
